buck denver coming soon to a church near you!

last week, phil vischer announced his brand new project – a dvd series for children and families titled “what’s in the bible?” this is an excerpt from his blog:

we have begun production on a 13-dvd series starring all the characters from jellytelly that will walk kids all the way through the bible – from genesis to revelation – and explain our faith and what it means to live it.  the project is called “what’s in the bible?”   and we will bring it to market with tyndale house publishers, the folks that brought us the living bible, as well as all those early focus on the family videos like mcgee & me and last chance detectives.

i am monstrously excited about this project, because we’re attempting to do something no one has really done before.  we taught a lot of bible stories over the years with veggie tales, but we never really taught the bible.  i mean, the whole thing.  where did it come from?  what does it mean?  how does it affect our lives?  and that’s what we’re going to do with what’s in the bible? –  hosted by buck denver and friends, as well as, ahem, yours truly.  (yes, i’m going to be in it, too.  it seemed like at certain points we need a real person talking about god.)

this project really has the potential to change how we teach our faith to our kids…i think everyone recognizes how badly we need something like this to keep our kids engaged in our faith.

i met phil a few years ago while we were working together on the conspire conference and ever since then i have been one of his biggest fans. he is humble and creative and all-out committed to raising the next generation of christians.

well, you can imagine how thrilled i was when phil contacted me to help with this new project! he has a passion to not only create great resources for children and their families, but for children’s church leaders. so, that is exactly what we are going to do! lori bethran and myself will be responsible for creating a strategic plan along with curriculum and family resources for the church so that along with using the “what’s in the bible” dvds in church, children’s leaders will have access to a variety of curriculum elements perfect for growing faith in children. we believe in phil’s creativity, and his ability to connect with kids and families, and we believe that in partnering together – we can create resources just right for the church and home!

but we need your help! a lot of the resources will need feedback and trial test runs done by YOU – children’s ministry directors, pastors and volunteers. if you are interested in helping shape this project, leave me a comment or send me an email and we’ll be sure to include you!
