day 2: formational children’s ministry

ivy beckwith’s book blog tour for her brand new book formational children’s ministry heads over to michael novelli’s blog today. michael has spent the last 13 years in student ministries, and currently develops interactive resources, curriculum, experiences and events to help students, educators and youth workers learn in new ways.

an excerpt from michael’s review:

“the author suggests a better way forward: “one of the ways, if not the way, children develop faith and are spiritually formed is through having their imaginations captured for the kingdom of god.” ( p.14) she is contending for the same emphasis that i do with my ministry: imagination is the gateway for deeper learning. this requires a different rhythm of ministry in our churches and homes–rhythms of story, ritual, and relationship.”

follow the tour for the next 7 days as children and youth ministry leaders discuss their thoughts on the book, contribute your own thoughts, and together may we sharpen our thinking on leading dynamic children’s ministries.
