hope and springtime

it’s been a long winter. especially here in chicago. we’ve had too many cold days, and sunshine-less weeks, and dreary months. some days it felt like winter would last forever.

but today, i have a new hope in my spirit and a new twinkle in my eye. i think springtime might be coming.

author anne lamott says, “hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.”

this winter, i’ve had far too many moments in the dark. moments of leadership insecurity, and loneliness, and questioning my calling. but i’ve tried my best to show up every single day, believe in the calling god has given me and hope that in just the right moment the dawn will come. i hope that my work does mean something, and that eventually i will see faith formed and transformed lives.

and today, it feels like the dawn is near and that springtime is around the corner.

i’m believing the same for you. hope is near. god has chosen you. and spring is here.
